Dr. Bronner’s, founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner a third-generation master soap maker, is still family-owned and run. It continues to honour its founder’s vision by making socially and environmentally responsible products of the highest quality.

I love that the soaps do not contain chelating agents, dyes, whiteners, or synthetic fragrances— only the purest certified organic essential oils, explains Sara. Moreover, Dr. Bronner’s products do not contain any genetically modified ingredients/organisms (GMOs) and are never tested on animals, so they qualify for the Leaping Bunny logo.

Dr Bronner Pure-Castile Liquid Soap
With no synthetic preservatives, detergents or foaming agents, the high-foaming lather comes from its high coconut oil content, which creates a more luxurious and richer lather than any detergent could ever produce.
Made with organic and certified fair trade ingredients (including organic coconut, palm, olive, hemp and jojoba oils) this vegan friendly liquid soap is packaged in a 100% post-consumer recycled bottle. (£5 for small and £8.50 for large)
Fair Trade & Organic
Dr. Bronner’s has created or partnered with fair trade and organic projects all over the world to support small scale farmers. An estimated 10,000 people around the world benefit directly from its fair trade projects.
Its organic palm kernel oil comes from Ecuador, where family farmers grow oil palms sustainably, in return for fair prices. While its sister company in Sri Lanka supplies the organic coconut oil and implements regenerative practices to help farmers be more resilient to climate change.
‘Pure-Castile is your guarantee that what you’re using is a genuinely ecological and simple soap – not a complex blend of detergents with a higher environmental impact due to the waste stream created during manufacturing and the detergents’ slower biodegradability,’ adds Sara. ‘And that’s why it’s such a brilliant fit for our GLOW ethos.’
Dr Bronner Pure-Castile Bar Soaps
If you prefer the feel of a bar of soap to liquid ones then these are a GLOW must-have. Gentle and versatile, these heavenly smelling bars are made with certified fair trade ingredients and organic hemp oil for a soft, smooth lather that won’t dry your skin, explains Sara. ‘And rest assured they are 100% biodegradable-vegan in a 100% post-consumer recycled wrapper – so you know you’re not harming our precious Earth.’
Planet friendly packaging
Dr. Bronner’s uses 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene (PET) plastic bottles for its liquid soaps. They have been using 100% PCR PET bottles for more than 10 years, long before it was common in the personal care industry.
Did you know recycling one ton of PET containers saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space? By turning used plastic bottles into new plastic bottles and products, they help conserve virgin resources, reduce landfill, and capitalise on the energy already invested in making existing plastic products.
Dr Bronner’s Organic shaving soaps
When I saw these organic, vegan and fair trade shaving soaps, I thought we just must offer them to our GLOW clients’ enthuses Sara.
For men and women, to nourish-cleanse-moisturise-soothe face-underarms-legs. I find it works best right out of the shower, when your skin is moist and hairs are soft.

Certified by the same USA National Organic Program that certifies food (because what you put on your skin goes into your body explains Sara) these soaps let you shave without synthetic ingredients.
Even better, they are aerosol-petrochemical-detergent free, with no synthetic fragrances, only organic essential oils.
Dr Bronner’s organic lip balm
‘Super brilliant for protecting my lips against icy blasts, and drying central heating, and I love the different flavours (although there is a ‘Naked’ one if you prefer). I’ve popped them all around the house, my car and even in my desk drawer so I’m never without,’ says Sara.
Made with organic beeswax, these little miracle workers provide a protective barrier with no synthetic ingredients – just organic jojoba, avocado and hemp oils help for extra moisturisation. And of course, Dr Bronner is certified organic because what you put on your lips goes into your body.
